Inventor Standard Keyboard Shortcuts

Below are some of the common standard keyboard shortcuts for use in Inventor. You can type these in whilst using the software, although there is no display for what you type, as with AutoCAD.

Help for the active command or dialog box.
F2
Pans the graphics window.
F3
Zooms in or out in the graphics window.
F4
Rotates objects in the graphics window.
F5
Returns to the previous view.
Backspace
In the active Line tool, removes the last sketched segment.
Delete
Deletes selected objects.
Esc
Quits a command.
Spacebar
When the 3D Rotate tool is active, switches between dynamic rotation and standard isometric and single plane views.
Alt+ drag mouse
In assemblies, applies a mate constraint. In a sketch, moves spline shape points.
Ctrl+Y
Activates Redo (revokes the last Undo).
Ctrl+Z
Activates Undo (revokes the last action).
Shift+right click
Activates the Select tool menu.
Shift+Rotate tool
Automatically rotates model in graphics window. Click to quit.
B
Adds a balloon to a drawing.
C
Adds an assembly constraint.
D
Adds a dimension to a sketch or drawing.
E
Extrudes a profile.
FC
Adds a feature control frame to a drawing.
H
Adds a hole feature.
L
Creates a line or arc.
ODS
Adds an ordinate dimension.
P
Places a component in the current assembly.
R
Creates a revolved feature.
S
Creates a 2D sketch on a face or plane.
T
Tweaks a part in the current presentation file.

AutoCAD Standard Keyboard Shortcuts

Below are some of the common standard keyboard shortcuts for use in all AutoCAD products. You can type these in whilst using the software and they will either appear in the command line, or in the dynamic box, depending on your mode.

  1 = Show dialogue boxes
cmddia 0 = Hide text editor for leaders
  1 = Show text editor for leaders
mbuttonpan 0 = Panning when hold and drag mouse wheel
  1 = Action defined in the CUI file
textfill 0 = Displays text as outlines
  1 = Displays text as filled images
imageframe 0 = Frames not displayed
  1 = Frames displayed & plotted
  2 = Frames displayed, not plotted
pickfirst 0 = Select object after you issue a command
  1 = Select object before you issue a command
startup 0 = Displays the select template window
  1 = Displays the startup & create new drawing window
sdi 0 = Multi sheet working environment
  1 = Single sheet working environment
taskbar 0 = Displays only the name of the current drawing on the Windows taskbar
  1 = Display multiple open drawings as separate items on the Windows taskbar
mtexted internal or null (.) = In place text editor
  OldEditor = Multiline text editor
ctrl + 9 Turn command line on/off
vtoptions Sets the options for smooth view transitions
regen Refresh the current drawing
options Takes you to the AutoCAD options window
u Reverse most recent operation
copyhist Copies the text in the command line history to the clipboard
oops Restores last objects that were removed by erase, block or wblock
